Trial and Error

Trial & Error (Title suggested by Hanis)

It was a long time ago or so it seems
In a forgotten land of dust
You spirited me to your Elysium
Rescued me from endless dusk

Forests carved from silver and gems
Meandering rivers of honey
Endless orchards of flowers and fruit
This was your kingdom, your country

You crowned me with the reddest roses
And declared me as your queen
But I forgot that flowers have thorns
Hidden amongst the petals and green

A time after you tired of me
Nothing I did could please you
Your warmth vanished, you grew distant
Your affection was scattered and few

A taste of magic was what you gave
And then you threw me away
Back to an empty gray cave
Where you expected me to stay

What I would give to see you dead
Slide a knife into your throat
See your eyes widen in fear
Make you sorry for turning cold

Why did you have to show me light
Then return my life to before?
Why show me what I can't have
Only to have me crave more?

I want you and your world
Untainted by fear and hate
I'll forgive you anything always
But can we ever try again?

  1. I love this poem. A hell lot.

"A taste of magic was what you gave," - this line is... chilling, in a way. I don't know, it just strikes me hard.

And the last stanza - "Untainted by fear and hate". -silence- I was trying to figure out how to comment but I can't put my thoughts into words so I'll leave you with this:

    GREAT JOB!
